A word from the CEO: Jesús de Miguel: grief and a warning for football · The death of Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel, aged 30, after a collision during a Spanish second-division match, has left football in mourning. It is very sad. It was a tragic accident in a kind of aerial challenge that happens in every game, and that is exactly why it must be reviewed. FIFA and IFAB, the body that sets the Laws of the Game, should study changes to better protect players in these situations, and players themselves need ever greater awareness. It is time for football to come together so that, God willing, this never happens again. This weekend, matches in Spain will stop in the 9th minute, his shirt number. Strength to his family, his friends and everyone at Tenerife.
A word from the CEO: Cruzeiro: a good game, but midfield needs reinforcing · Cruzeiro played a good game against Bahia, but the team still needs more substance. There is not enough quality in midfield to build play: we cannot rely only on Gerson and Romero to create. Up front we have a good striker and a good right winger, but the left wing is a weak spot. We need a quality left winger who can beat his man one-on-one and help create chances. The full-backs seem to be settling, and Gabriel Rojas had a good game. The defence had kept two clean sheets, but conceded twice to Bahia, and in big games that matters. Now it is time to use the break, fix these points and arrive strong to face Palmeiras.
A word from the CEO: Real Madrid: the defence needs fixing, urgently · Real Madrid are the biggest club in the world; nobody questions that. But this season they lack the defensive solidity that has always been their trademark. They beat Roma 4-3 and AEK 3-2: they won, but conceded five goals in two games. That way, they will not win anything that matters. Mourinho's project is new, but the defence must be sorted before the Champions League knockout rounds, the club's main goal. In attack, Mbappé is a tremendous player, but at times he is too greedy: he should think less about the scoring charts and pass more, especially to Vinícius Júnior. I don't know what is going on, but Vini is not in good form. He keeps trying the same moves, and defenders have read the way he runs and feints. For now, the bench is the natural place for him. With Diomande competing for the spot, he will have to reinvent himself and make things happen.
